Top 5 secret beaches in the world

Finding the beach paradise of your dreams is not as difficult as you think if you know where to look. Here’s my round up of the top 5 beaches in the world- and some are closer than you think!

1. Ngor island, Senegal (West Africa)

Ngor island has a small and laid-back beach and is situated not far from Dakar, Senegal’s capital. Ngor island is perfect for daytrips to escape the hustle and bustle of Dakar, and is in my opinion more charming than the better known Goree Island.

2. White Beach, Boracay, Philippines (Southeast Asia)

Mabuhay Boracay! (long live Boracay in the Filipino language of Tagalog). You’d be saying this too if after visiting this paradise beach that crams soft white sand, great marine life, entertainment as well as the legendary Filipino hospitality!

3. Nosy Iranja, Madagascar (Indian Ocean)

This list should be the top 6 beaches as Nosy Iranja island in Madagascar gives you 2 beaches for the price of 1! During low tide this spectacular island is split into two beaches by a line of fine white sand. Madonna stayed in a secluded villa here- but if you don’t have her bling you can still make it for a day trip here from the larger island of Nosy Be and make believe you’re an international pop star on your own secluded island

Hainan island has long been a popular beach destination for the Chinese and neighbouring countries. Sanya city is the main gateway in Hainan island offers many activities from rainforest hiking, visiting Monkey Island (home to over 2,000 macaque monkeys) to just chilling on the beach. The best time to visit is China’s tropical gem is between October to March. Go there before the whole world finds out

5. Spiaggia Bianca (White Beach), Lipari, Sicily

Representing Europe on this list is the understated glamour of White beach in Lipari, Sicily. Even in the peak summer period (July/August) this beach has plenty of secluded coves to watch the yachts and enjoy the crystal clear waters away from the crowds. Fans of Italian cinema will also be pleased to know that the film Il Postino (The Postman) was filmed in this region.
